Now this first series of the Horsemen is finished, I’ve finally got time to edit them back to back. I had to make a decision whether to focus on finishing the first series or to go back and do the editing I knew the books needed. Don’t get me wrong, we edit them before publishing, but I’m a new fiction writer (I’ve written a lot of non fiction in business) and I did my best. The problems with the books needed me, and not an editor to go and rework them.
I chose to focus on getting the story out and rather than interrupt the flow of the tale, I just kept writing book after book.
Now, the story has reached its first conclusion (there’s more to come), I’ve gone back and I’m editing every book, line by line. Eve of the Hunter Wars and Heaven meets Hell needed more work than the others and they’re a much smoother read now. They’ll never be quite in the style of the subsequent books, but now they flow properly.
It’s thanks to the patience of my readers and their enthusiasm for the story, I’ve had the drive to keep writing and learn to do it better.
For anyone who’d like to get an updated version of the books, I believe you can write to Amazon and ask and they’ll ‘push’ you the latest release. We’ll ask Amazon to do it for us once all the books are finalised, but they don’t always do it just because we ask.
I’m keen to finish editing and get on with the next book. I’m getting my usual fidgety fingers and my head is already in the next world the Horsemen find. Turns out their job is not done and we all know Gears wouldn’t be happy doing half a job. That big gorilla is kicking my ass and telling me to get on with it!
